The Hamas terrorist organization launched a surprise attack against Israel on October 7, 2023. Their focus was to terrorize Israeli civilians. They murdered, raped, burnt alive over 1400 people, babies, children, parents, families and elderly. They captured over 200 hostages, and videoed their atrocities to share on the Internet. The images, the videos, the stories from those who survived are beyond imagination, absolutely horrible.
You would think the world would see this event with moral clarity. You would be wrong. Less than a week after this horrible massacre, the most Jews killed in a single day since the Holocaust, the news media and many liberal minded folks are hemming and hawing about the plight of Gaza while Hamas hides behind Gazan civilians and the hostages.
You would think the world might condemn antisemitism, after such an attack. You would be wrong. Less than a week after this horrible massacre, university administrators still can’t condemn their student groups who outright celebrated Hamas but also harass Jewish students on campus. They chant slogans like “From the River to the Sea Palestine will be Free” and “Intifada, Intifada”. In more virulent demonstrations, they chant in Arabic “Kaybar, Kaybar ya Yahud”. All of which are calls for genocide.
You would think the world might question reports coming out of Gaza. You would be wrong. A rocket misfired and crashed in a hospital parking lot, but the minute after the event social media and the mainstream media were parroting the Gaza Health Ministry (aka Hamas) statement that was a direct hit on a hospital, an Israeli attack, and there were over 500 dead. Turns out none of the information was true. Yet there are members of US Congress, the Squad, who piggybacked off this information to demonize Israel and call for a ceasefire to protect Hamas.
There are many more examples where moral clarity and critical thinking is missing. I stand with Israel, and hope she does what is necessary to rid the world of Hamas. Sadly I think leaders in the West do not recognize the moral rot that exists today within society. There will be a reckoning, and the Islamists and Leftists are seemingly joined at the hip.
