Well I’ve taken the plunge. I left Convergys at the beginning of October to join an Austin based company called Lombardi Software. Originally I was interested in a core development position in Austin, but the stars were not aligned. I flew over there in August for face-to-face interviews and I found the company and people inspiring. It reminded me of past organizations (like WhisperWire and SMART) that attracted top talent. So, when I heard they had a position in Europe that fit a person of my skills/ experience I was thrilled. After an afternoon of interviewing in London and a bit of negotiations, I made the leap.
I spent most of October in Austin for Lombardi Boot Camp training. My role is ‘Senior Program Manager’ for the Global Business Services group. While there still is project management tasks associated with the implementation efforts, the focus is more at the higher level customer/ program efforts and contractual/ change aspects. I find the position a new experience that is exciting and dovetails well with my strong engineering background.
